The Passover Haggadah is a set of Jewish benedictions, prayers, and psalms recited at the seder ritual on the eve of Passover. Passover is a Jewish holiday commemorating the Hebrews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt, when God "passed over" the houses of Israelites and spared them the ten plagues of Egypt outlined in the biblical Book of Exodus. It occurs in the spring on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nisan and lasts for seven days in Israel and eight days outside Israel. Seder is a ritual feast marking the Passover holiday. |
