Undated woodcut. Inscribed lower left, in pencil (below image): Fall Creek Falls near Spencer, Tenn. Dr. A. Ross Pittman was a neuropsychiatrist and former medical missionary in India. Pittman took up printmaking in the 1936 as a hobby, and studied under George A. Bradshaw at the School of Industrial Arts in Trenton, New Jersey. A native Tennesseean, many of his prints have famous Tennessee sites as their subject. The 256 feet Fall Creek Falls are the highest free-fall waterfall east of the Mississippi River. Today the falls are a State Park. |
