Description |
A watercolor painting of a yellow bird perched upon a branch above a rock, green vegetation, and the ground. A purple butterfly flies directly above the bird. "Blue Eyed Warbler" is written in red cursive text under the bird at bottom center. A self-taught artist, John Abbot lived in the state of Georgia most of his life, collecting specimens and creating thousands of illustrations. Abbot raised concern over declining bird and insect populations as a result of agricultural practices and increasing human populations during a time when few were concerned with environmental change. |
