Tallit, white with blue stripes and gold-colored beading/embroidery along the edge. Tassled. Jewish prayer shawl, bought in Jerusalem. A tallit is a prayer shawl, traditionally worn during prayers and special ceremonial events as a reminder of the duties and obligations of a Jew. The fringes on the corners are knotted in numerical combinations meant to represent the names of God. |
