North America, Plate III
English writer and commerce expert Malachy Postlethwayt published his most famous work, The Universal Dictionary of Trade and Commerce, in installments between 1751 and 1755. Postlethwayt's publication was essentially a translated version of an earlier French volume, Jacques Savary des Bruslons' Dictionnaire universal de commerce (1723-1730), with substantial additions. North America, Plate III from Postlethwayt's Universal Dictionary depicts New Mexico (modern New Mexico and Arizona) and includes an inset map of the Atlantic coast and the area around Hudson Bay.
