On back, handwritten in pencil: Mrs. Mary Richardson in dress of my aunt's that Mama loaned her. This was one of the wedding trousseau dresses of my Aunt Matilda Mills Stith. Dress was of sage green taffeta. (Lace, bracelets, and jewelry were Mama's). Worn at Centennial, Knoxville, 187--. Ernest Briscoe's grandfather brought Mrs. Mary Richardson out from the east to be governess for his children out of Greenville, Tenn. Later she was a governess for some other gentleman's children. Later taught school in Knoxville. After that she was the head of St. John's Orphanage, Knoxville, Tenn. With her was Mrs. Matilda Goetz at orphanage.
Cabinet card was found loose in album 1957.3.170.
