"Principatus Transilvaniae in Quinque Nationes…," Nuremberg, 1731, hand-colored engraving, map by Johann Baptiste Homann This map shows Transylvania divided up into its regions and duchies and covers what is today the northern part of Romania from the Bereton River eastward as far as Castle Boza. The regions are color coded according to district. The map provides detailed information on villages, cities, forests, rivers, monasteries, castles, and lakes. One major city is depicted, Hermannstadt or Sibiu. The map is further enhanced with a large decorative military themed cartouche in the lower right.

The main feature of the map is the highly decorative title cartouche containing a portrait of Frederick III, King of the Prussian dynasty, surrounded by an elaborate allegorical scene of his coronation in 1701, filling the Baltic Sea.
