"…as we would walk over, and over…," 2014, from the portfolio "Drawn from the McClung Museum;" mezzotint, drypoint, toner etching, and spit bite aquatint with relief and chine-collé by Mark Bovey. Edition: 1/30
The print was designed in response to McClung Museum object: 1951.1.34 (Confederate canteen).
Artist statement: Objects such as this Confederate canteen bare the surface scars of brutal field battles fought near Knoxville, by more than forty thousand soldiers in 1863-64. It's carved with the Southern Cross, revealing one soldier's allegiance. Made of wood, rather than the more durable tin Union flasks, the canteen symbolizes the depleted resources of the failing Rebel army.
