Notes Blackshear was a well-known photographer in Macon, Georgia who had served in the 1st Georgia Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He was wounded in 1865 but recovered and returned to military duty later that year. He ran a photography studio until a few years before 1911, when he fell seriously ill with influenza and eventually died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
